Two ASI modules. Each module is cliped to the ASI cable

You can mount IP67 Modules right next to the field devices.

This modules are mounted outside by the machine. See the dust on the top

Clip the ASI Modules anywhere you need them

Standard Proximity switch connected straight to the nearby ASI module

Cheaper ASI IP20 modules to be installed in enclosures

AS-i is not made to bring control functionality to the field as other complicated protocols do. AS-i is simply used to connect discrete field devices to your PLC (like distributed I/O).  AS-I is simple, easy to understand, yet powerful and low cost. Each ASI master can have up to 62 Slaves with a total of up to 434 digital Inputs and Outputs per master.

ASI Bus has been around for more than 10 years. The technology is easy to understand. Savings are reflected in: low installation costs, less wiring, less points of failure, less and simpler electrical drawing.

Advantages: High Speed for sensor devices, power and communication travel in the same cable, no restrictions on network topology, no terminators or special shielding requirements yet still less susceptible to RFI interface than some other networks, it is designed to incorporate standard field devices such as push buttons and proximity switches.
